LEMKO SONG AS A REFLECTION OF NATIONAL IDENTITY AND A SOURCE OF CHORAL ART

Abstract

The Lemko song is a unique cultural phenomenon that harmoniously combines the national identity and musical and poetic tradition of the Ukrainian people. It serves as a key tool for preserving ethnic identity and reflects the historical experience and worldview of Lemkos, a sub-ethnic group whose existence was closely linked to the geographical features of the mountainous regions. These songs, distinguished by their original melodies and complex rhythmic structures, are an important part of Ukrainian and European heritage.
