RESOLUTIONS OF THE CC CP (B) OF UKRAINE – DOCUMENTS FOR STUDYING IDEOLOGICAL CAMPAIGNS IN UKRAINE (LATE FORTIES – EARLY FIFTIES OF THE XXTH CENTURY)

Abstract

In the second half of the 1940s – early 1950s came a number of resolutions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bilshovyks) of Ukraine – CC CP (b)U, dedicated to literature, history, philosophy, music, cinema and art in general. These decisions were part of the ideological campaign, known as «zhdanovschyna». Documents served as a means of political and ideological control of totalitarian power for the creative activity of intellectuals, the spiritual life of society. The point of party criticism was aimed at overcoming the original national content, special national flavor of Ukrainian literature and art, at «exposing Ukrainian bourgeois nationalism». During the period from 1944 to 1953 12 the most significant resolutions of the Central Committee of the Soviet Union Communist Party (Bilshovyks) – CC CPSU (b) and the CC CP (b) on ideological issues have been adopted. These sources laid the ideological foundation for an attack on all groups of intellectuals, the special atmosphere was created and as a result there were accusations and public criticisms.Prejudgments in estimates of science and culture leaders, volitional decisions were usual; unauthorized and incompetent administrative interference in creative activity has been manifested; the denial of basic freedoms of art. Party documents have been widely commented in the editorial and articles, in speeches at numerous meetings of workers of culture and art. The distorted assessment of the spiritual life in the country has been given; flimsy and unsubstantiated accusations against leading writers, artists and scientists have been put forward.
