SITUATION AND REASONS OF MIGRATION IN THE SOVIET UKRAINE IN 1940–1960-IES

The article is focused on the block of causes which are related with the influence of the administrative-bureaucratic system and personal motives of potential migrants. The conclusion about the dominance of economic and political reasons was done and it includes: an increased need of working labor in the reconstructive period and during the further growth of economic potential; an abrupt reduction in the working population; an increase of the arable land in the South and East of the republic; the formation of the social supporting base for the Soviet power in some areas of the USSR. Among the personal motives of immigrants we can identify the following: the desire to improve the financial situation and living conditions, the unfavorable climate, the low level of cultural and community services, the heavy manufacturing conditions, the motives related to the impossibility of social and professional growth.
