NUMBER SYMBOLISM IN THE TEXTS OF THE UKRAINIAN HISTORICAL DUMAS OF THE PERIOD BEFORE RULING OF BOHDAN KHMELNYTSKYI

This article gives the attempt of reconstruction of numerical matrix in the Ukrainian historical dumas on the example of detection and interpretation of semantic constructs of numbers. Our research reflected the studies of specific semantic cross-sections for number seven and three. The method of work is to identify the system of number repetitions in different semantic contexts and selection of its major features. In particular, we succeeded to isolate the basic semantic contexts for the number three and seven, at the same time revealing main ideological imaginative and sacred foundations of their symbolic cross-section. Comparing contexts and breadth of application of seven and three, we saw the features of the use of these numbers and of their meaning. Three occupies a leading place in numerical matrix of duma, bringing a deep religious context, while the number seven is thought by us as rather vivid example of mythical epic folk memory and traditions, leaving aside the Christian component. Numerical matrix of duma is not limited to these concepts and modes and requires further study in a view of the breadth of its application.
