MANIFESTATION OF CORRUPTION AND ABUSES IN THE SYSTEM OF CONSUMER COOPERATIVES IN UKRAINIAN SSR IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY

On the base of the main archive sources the attempt was made to analyze the manifestation of corruption and abuses in the system of consumer cooperatives in Ukraine in the second half of the twentieth century, to identify characteristic features, to define the scope and identify the reasons of this phenomenon. The cause of these adverse events were actual nationalization of Consumer Cooperatives, leveling its primary co-operative nature. Besides, the difficult conditions of existence in the Ukrainian village, especially in the early postwar years, the level of wages in rural shops, which was lower than in the state trade in the cities, often made people commit malfeasance.
