Abstract

This article presents the special aspects of the currency reform process and abolishment of the rationing system on the territory of South Ukraine in 1947. The author considers the issue, which was researched, reasonably important because of its biased coverage by Soviet historians and demanding the ensuing study. The main content of the study is comprised of the analysis of this particular process i.e. the reasons of the currency reform and abolishment of the rationing system in the post-war period are named.The peculiarities of this phenomenon are emphasized and described on the ground of a large resource base. The official representation of the government and the actual opinions of the population are compared. The article researches the typical methods of command-and-control system’s influence on the events and people’s minds. The author proves natural aftermath of the currency system and abolishment of the rationing system for the country’s economy in general as well as for the population in particular.
