WIND ENERGY IN THE TERRITORY OF UKRAINE IN XIX – FIRST HALF OF THE XX CENTURY: HISTORICAL RETROSPECTIVE

The article describes the initial stages of the historical development of wind energy in Ukraine. The energy supply is very important question for modern society. Highly developed economies of the world use for their needs alternative end renewable energy more and more. One of them is wind power, which was used by mankind since ancient times. Scientists began to research wind as the energy source from the ХVIII century. The scientists who worked in this field was F. Brush, T. Perry, M. Zhukovsky, S. Chaplygin, Y. Kondratyuk. The beginning of XIX century made the foundation for the industrial usability of wind turbines. In the 30s of the XX century, the scientific community received significant results in aerodynamics, which allowed them to raise wind energy to a higher level. The period from the XIX to the beginning of the XX century can be regarded as an important period of the searches and implementation in the field of the wind energy in Ukraine, and the period of the streamlining and improving it’s efficiency.
