The article considers the reasons of expansion of the Alliance in connection with the geopolitical changes in the world. Reveales the UK government’s position regarding NATO expansion to the East. Examines the debate in the British political circles about the policy of NATO. Analyzes the desire of the United Kingdom to remain a European leader in the North Atlantic Alliance.
