Abstract

The article examines the influence of royal knights in England in the military and socio-political spheres during the years 1272-1377. A significant aspect of the study is an analysis of the views of British historiography on the problems of knights’ loyalty, their functions and implications for the monarchy. Much attention is paid to the process of evolution of household knights from mainly soldiers to officials of different levels through the prism of the rule of three English kings.
