THE ISSUE OF UKRAINIAN YOUTH EDUCATION IN THE WORKS OF O. TYSOVSKYI

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to comprehensively examine Oleksandr Tysovskyi’s views on youth education, particularly analyzing the main principles of his pedagogical concept in the context of both Plast (scouting) and family upbringing, as well as determining the relevance of his ideas for contemporary Ukrainian educational, upbringing, and family practices. Research Methodology. To achieve the purpose of the article, a comprehensive approach was applied, combining historical-pedagogical, systemic, and comparative research methods. The historical-pedagogical method allowed tracing the development of Oleksandr Tysovskyi’s ideas in the context of the historical period at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, as well as their influence on the formation of national education pedagogy in Ukraine. Using this method, the main works of Tysovskyi, his correspondence, and archival materials were analyzed. The analysis of documentary sources included the study of scientific works, publications, and archival documents related to the activities of Plast and the ideology of youth education, as well as contemporary research on Tysovskyi’s pedagogy. A systemic approach was applied for a comprehensive examination of Tysovskyi’s pedagogical concept, taking into account its components–Plast (scouting), family, and moral-ethical education–as well as their interconnection with modern educational processes. The comparative method was used to compare Tysovskyi’s ideas with other pedagogical concepts of both Ukrainian and foreign educators, which allowed highlighting the uniqueness and relevance of his approaches. The method of analysis and synthesis helped in structuring the obtained data, forming a coherent picture, and logically presenting the material. Thus, the application of these methods ensured a deep and comprehensive disclosure of the issues of youth education in the works of Oleksandr Tysovskyi, as well as the actualization of his pedagogical ideas in the contemporary context. Conclusions. Oleksandr Tysovskyi proposed a unique pedagogical concept that combines Ukrainian national values, scouting methods, Christian morality, and practical education through action. His approach remains relevant and can be effectively applied in the modern educational system as an alternative or complement to formal learning. Tysovskyi’s works serve as a source of inspiration for educators, mentors, parents, and all those who strive to raise free, active, educated, and patriotic youth.
