WORKING WITH TEXTS FOR READING IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING THE UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE AS A SPECIALTY IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF CHINA

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of the formation of reading skills in students of Chinese universities who study the Ukrainian language as a specialty. In the methodic of teaching foreign languages, the most traditional form of presenting educational material in order to further consolidate it in the exercise system is teaching and learning the language according to educational texts. The lexical composition of any language is formed under the influence of sociocultural factors and the degree of semantic correspondences between languages depends on the living conditions and culture of the peoples concerned. Misunderstanding of sociocultural information can sometimes interfere even more than unfamiliar words or grammatical structures, and therefore sociocultural similarities and differences in native and Chinese cultures should be the subject of discussion and reflection in Ukrainian language classes for students of Chinese universities. A careful selection of educational texts and a well-thought-out system of exercises based on the educational text will help to eliminate this problem. In the process of learning Ukrainian or any other foreign language, authentic texts as an important means of learning are important. Working with authentic texts plays a leading role in learning the culture of the country whose language is being studied, in creating motivation, maintaining interest, ensuring the relationship of learning with life. In addition, the processing of educational texts is already familiar to students from school years. This article describes the steps for working with authentic text: text, text, and post-text text. The purpose of each stage, its tasks and expected results are determined. Working with properly selected educational texts ensures the connection of educational material with real situations, activates the associative memory and cognitive activity of the student, fosters a sense of respect for the culture of the people whose language is studied. The use of educational texts and exercise systems is the main means of forming foreign-language communicative competence of students, in particular intercultural, in the process of learning Ukrainian as a foreign language in higher educational institutions of China.
