POWER RELATIONS AND NOMADIC SUBJECTIVITY IN MARIO VARGAS LLOSA’S NOVEL “THE BITCH OF A BAD GIRL”

The article covers selected fragments of a research on the Symbolic and power—from interpersonal relationships to social conventions—based on Mario Vargas Llosa’s novel Travesuras de la niña mala. One of the key motifs analyzed in the present article is that of journey, which is to be viewed as a liberating experiencethat defies everyday order. This take on Llosa’s novel also requires a close-up ofthe ways in which nomadism determines relationships between the charactersand defines their identities. The analysis is mainly carried out in the mythocriticalperspective, yet also employs poststructuralist concepts and postmodernist theories of time and space.
