Abstract

The article addresses the problem of explanation of the temporal essence of the language of the individual (as an entity constituted in the mind of the subject), and of general language (which is an abstract model that generalizes individual man- ifestations of human speech), that underlie Jan Baudouin de Courtenay’s linguistic paradigm. The author analyzes the two concepts in terms of ontological principles and the possibility of their existence in time. The interpretation of the works of Polish linguist is carried out within methodological context of functional pragmatism, which is a manifestation of anthropocentric relationism.
