UKRAINIAN RETRODETECTIVE AS AN EXAMPLE OF “AESTHETICS OF INFLUENCE”

Abstract

The article examines the regularity of building plots and imaginative schemes in Ukrainian retro-detective fiction. It highlights the bases of so-called “cloned detective stories”. The works of W. Iser and H. Jauss provide the theoretical and methodological basis of the study seen through a lens of reader-response criticisms. The paper gives a detailed analysis of the common principles and methods of art construction schemes of Ukrainian retro-detective fiction in the works of A. Kokotyuha and B. Kolomiychuk. The article develops the specificity of artistic communication in modern Ukrainian popular literature. It highlights the phenomenon of “reverse effect” that was made on the formation of certain canons, conflicts and plot structures. It also analyses the phenomenon of direct dependency of literature from the readers viewpoint when dictated by «out of literature» or societal factors.
