EPITETIC INTERPRETATION OF THE JOURNEY MOTIVE IN M. GOGOL'S "DEAD SOULS" AND Y. KRASHEVSKY'S "MAGIC LANTERN"

The article is dedicated to the epithet structures’ analyses as means of motive of travelling interpretation in „Dead souls” by N. Gogol and „Magic lantern” by J. Krashewski. The aim of this investigation is also to identify the role and functions of epithet in the process of the motive functioning and perception. While the analyses has been done it has been summarized that motive of travelling fulfills numerous functions. Among others this motive does plot organizing function. The epithets give this motive unique symbolization in both „Dead souls” by N. Gogol and „Magic lantern” by J. Krashewski. As for the oncoming perspective of this investigation the comparative analyses will help to identify the type of relations between the main images of mentioned works.
