The function of literature as a social phenomenon diverse and traditionally mixed. The trend towards reality, which at the same time would be absolutely plausible and at the same time extremely biased and author, individual, leads to the fact that the reader expects the works of art some absolute ethical and aesthetic values that would be for him and the goal and the means to achieve it .Social psychology has developed a theory of a certain system of human values sought by the human species being and as an individual. Everyone chooses some of his values, but the list of them turned out to be finite. Full, comprehensive catalog for each culture may be his own, from the Ten Commandments of Christianity to six hundred thirteen - Judaism, but most of them are abstracted to categories, it is amenable to formulation. According to the theory of Milton Rokeach values exist "terminal", of course, that is the belief that the achievement of certain specific purposes is the meaning of human life. These include: a comfortable life; equality and fraternity; interesting and active life; taking care of loved ones; freedom and independence; health; inner world; mature love; security; fun; salvation; self-esteem; sense of achievement; the respect of society; friendship; wisdom; world peace; understanding of beauty. There is also the value of "tools" - that is, associated with the methods of achieving the objectives of: ambition; open-minded; competence; neatness; hardness; forgiveness; assistance; sincerity; creativity; self-sufficiency; intelligence; sequence; love; loyalty; obedience; politeness; responsibility; restraint.Fiction since its inception claimed to be to be "lifelike" and "didactic." That is, the literature should reflect real life and demonstrate what is worth to human life, significant values. A perfect masterpieces of literature supposedly embody both communicative and compensatory and educational function of art. There is a tradition to determine the best in the literary process: from ancient playwrights competition to the Nobel Prize. At the beginning of the third millennium was written several "final" list. The most popular list of the hundred best writers, compiled by the Norwegian Book Club in conjunction with the Norwegian Institute named Nobel 2002, the formation of which was attended by a hundred writers from fifty-four countries, as well as list of 100 best books of all time by the magazine «Newsweek». It was found that twenty authors coincide in both lists.Trying to put together a system of aesthetic and ethical values, traditionally considered in the science of literature, with a set of social values, which are the object of study of psychology and sociology, can be quite productive if it is to exercise with the potential compatibility of these basic postulates of Sciences.
