ASCENDING AND DESCENDING TYPES OF GRADATION RELATIONSHIP IN THE SEMANTIC STRUCTURE OF THE COMPOUND SYNTACTIC CONSTRUCTIONS

Abstract

The semantic and communicative analysis of the gradation constructions in the Ukrainian language is performed in this article. The author views the main linguistic ideas of the predicative parts of compound gradation construction importance, overviews the significance of the second predicative part of gradation sentences that can be determined only with the speaker’s communicative attitude. The author of this article defines that the division of gradation into ascending and descending can be possible only in the constructions with the quantitative parameter. The observations have proved that just a minor part of gradation constructions has the quantitative indicator and the key condition for all the utterances with the gradation relationship is that the first part corresponds to the criterion of necessity and the second part – to the adequacy criterion.
