THE MODERNIST SEARCHES OF VIRGINIA WOOLF IN A GENRE OF BIOGRAPHY

The article deals with V. Woolf’s formal experimentation in a genre of biography. This genre was relevant during the entire V. Woolf’s life, she even tried to push the boundaries of the genre, release it from conventions, create its harmonious blend of truth and fiction, and bring the artistic value to dry documentary presentation of biographical facts. Her own vision of the biographical genre Virginia Woolf presented in her two theoretical articles: «The new biography» (1927) and «The Art of Biography» (1939).
