Abstract

The article focuses onways of professional oral communication development of public officials.The presented theoretical generalization is based on the analysis of communication theory foundations toselect elements of communication. Basic means of communication were determined. The definition of communication is provided, too. The role of verbal and non-verbal communication components, making it effective, was emphasized. The article also discusses communicative strategies to develop public officials’ professional oral communicative competence, immediacy among them. It is underlined that dialogue is the primary means of building partner relations between communicative act agents to achieve a certain common goal (or a mutually beneficial goal). Thearticle also highlights the given questionnaire, estimating publicofficials’ immediacy behaviourformation level, the results of which have revealed verbal and non-verbal components central to forming the necessary oral communication proficiency. The discussedverbal and non-verbal immediacyfeatures were singled out taking into account theiraffecting public officials’ oral communicationbehaviour.Some special author’s estimation procedure of the data statistical processing was introduced. The above procedure helps determine the level of public officials’verbal and non-verbal communication proficiency formation , update their professional skills,enhancingtheir work satisfactionand the desire to upgrade one’s oral proficiency to fruitfully operate at the workplace. Thus, the developing public officials’ professional oral communicative proficiency as well as the in − process communicative flexibility ensure their ability to quickly meet the changing requirements and tasks that emerge now.
