This article examines the motive of warm and cold in the works of Blaise Cendrars. The author demonstrates there is close relationship between imagination of the Swiss poet and basic body reactions to temperature. Cendrars’s poetry seems to be a search for antidotum against emotional cold which the poet experienced as a child in an ‘icy’ relationship with neurotic mother. The article has been inspired by Jean-Pierre Richard’s works. Thematic criticism tools have been applied in the study.
