ARCHETYPAL STORY: A BOOK IN THE DESAKRALIZED WORLD (H. PAHUTYAK «KINGDOM», O. SAYKO «CAFE ON THE CORNER», K. FUNKE «INKHEART»)

Abstract

The article deals with the notion of the archetypal story on the basis of works of H.Pahutyak, O.Sayko, K.Funke and, in particular, focuses on the role of books in the desakralized modern world. The author of the article suggests different approaches to the issue of problem, the most significant of which may be considered as a «principle of motriyka» (existence of primary authors and authors-characters), indicating the multidimensionality of works’ space, and its structure is more like a world of archaic than a modern one. The article reveals the duality of the image of book, its versatility, intertextual connections. The book can merge with someone,can be "heavenly gate" to another world / dimension, can become a source of power, can act as a catalyst for human vices, can facilitate transformation, rethinking of someone’s life and the adoption of new solutions. Attention is drawn to the cosmogony of writers, based on bookcentrism that becomes synonymous with logotsentrism. Writers produce the idea that the attitude to a bookidentifiesthe cultural and spiritual level of human: the only characters whoare progressing identify themselves with the book as an ideal, universal manifestation of the spirit in a matter.
