DIALOGISM OF THE PRAYER GENRE IN LESYA UKRAINKA’S DRAMA «IFIGENIA IN TAURIDE»

The article focuses on the phenomenon of dialogism of the prayer speech genre as the main way of communication in Lesya Ukrainka’s drama «Ifigenia in Tauride». The specifics of literary communication in one of the actual directions of modern philological studies, and the issue of prayer’s communicativeness seems to be poorly studied and controversial. The aim of this study is to define communicative peculiarities of the prayer’s speech genre representation in Ifigenia’s inner monologues in Lesya Ukrainka’s drama «Ifigenia in Tauride». Priestess’ payer appeals are formally monological, but the specifics of the genre itself provides their openness, dialogism, orientation on a unique addressee. Appeal to different interlocutors inside one continuous monologue creates a feeling of the complete dialogic talk, when the other communicant’s replica doesn’t need verbal embodiment due to the special status of the sacral interlocutor in the prayer genre. Ifigenia’s prayer overreaches the canon frames of this genre: it unites elements of autocommunication, confession and reflections, but it’s dialogism is immanent and saturates all the replicas of the priestess.
