THE MESSIAH’S IMAGE C. S. LEWIS’S “SPACE TRILOGY”

The article deals with a deep analysis of the Christian discourse’s specific in the genre of science fiction based on C. S. Lewis’s Space Trilogy which includes such novels as Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra and That Hideous Strength. This study defines the notions of Christian discourse and science fiction, their elements and characteristics. The article provides a detailed analysis of the elements of Christian discourse in C. S. Lewis’s science fiction cyclus such as a religious institution, religious agents, religious anthroponomy, religious system and movements, religious philosophy and rituals. The present research also focuses on the genre’s peculiarities of Space Trilogy and their impact on the realization of British author’s Christian view. This article presents the results of the demonstration of Christian discourse’s specific according to the analysis of the plot and characters in C. S. Lewis’s science fiction cyclus. The specific resides in the representation of The Messiah’s image, identity and faith formation. The article is of great help to researches which deal with Christian discourse and its’ main elements.
