THE USE OF MATRIX METHODS OF ANALYSIS IN INFORMATIONAL ACTIVITY OF A MODERN UNIVERSITY TEACHER OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES

The essence of matrix analysis methods on the example of the SWOT-analysis and SNW-analysis has been investigated in the context of university teacher’s information activity. The possibilities of implementation of these methods into the educational process, especially as part of diagnostic and didactic analysis of the whole process, students’ learning activities and its results, planning educational activity, its use in design and realization of the program of professional and personal development, as well as diagnostics of the efficacy of personal professional activity have been discussed. Attention was also paid to implementation of SNW and SWOT methods of analysis in a complex with sociological information, an important issue in the work of a university teacher of a foreign language. The conclusion has been made with a statement, that the use of matrix analysis methods, such as SWOT and SNW, in the professional activity provides a teacher of foreign languages with technique for defining his/her own strengths, use the educational opportunities in their variety, cope with the threats, as well as weaknesses, be proactive, take better decisions etc.
