The relevance of the research is determined by the need to find effective methodological approaches to engage children in reading within the modern educational environment. The formation of a stable interest in reading is an important factor in preparing children for school education, as it contributes to the development of language skills, the expansion of vocabulary, and the formation of creative thinking. In today’s world, where digital technologies significantly affect children’s leisure, traditional reading is gradually losing its popularity, which may negatively influence the development of speech, imagination, and emotional domains. The article provides an analysis of current studies and publications on preschool reading, particularly those that highlight the genre-specific features of children's literature, its psychological and pedagogical aspects of perception, and methods for developing reading activity. Special attention is given to the use of interactive and innovative techniques that encourage children's interest in literary works. The paper explores scientific approaches to involving preschoolers in reading fiction, analyzes the factors influencing the formation of reading interest, and outlines effective strategies for stimulating reading activity. The aim of the study is to identify and substantiate pedagogical conditions, methods, and techniques that promote the development of reading interest among senior preschool children. The article examines how the organization of literary activities in preschool educational settings can stimulate interest in reading and enhance the ability to perceive and interpret literary texts. The article analyzes works by Ukrainian authors recommended by the Ukrainian Preschool program, which support the development of children’s reading interests. Methodological approaches are considered, including interactive methods of working with literary texts, game-based techniques, dramatization, and active parental involvement in fostering a love for reading. The results of the research demonstrate that the use of literary language, emotionally expressive reading, dramatization, and interactive technologies significantly enhances children’s interest in reading and motivates independent engagement with books. It was found that key conditions for developing reading interest include emotional involvement during listening and discussion, the creation of a supportive linguistic environment, and active adult–child interaction during the reading process.
